Roles and Responsibilities:
  • AIT 1 Engineer is responsible for taking the airframes to a production configuration by integrating and configuring the flight controller and other associated electronics.
  • Candidates should be able to route the wirings and integrate different payloads to the UAV as per mission requirements.
  • Candidates should have sound knowledge of engineering of UAVs (FW / VTOL etc.) of various classes and configurations.
  • They should have demonstrable working knowledge of aircraft building, integration and testing for professional applications.
  • Building UAVs from the designs given by the Design and Analysis teams.
  • Integrating the flight controller with other onboard avionics and configuring autopilots.
  • Integrating the OBC (NVIDIA Boards, Raspberry pi etc.) with PixHawk and peripheral programming to mission requirements.
  • Configuring, integrating and testing on-board avionics like GPS, EO/IR cameras, airspeed sensors, optical flow sensors etc.
  • Tweaking parameters, both on the flight controller and ground control software to achieve optimum aircraft performance and glitch-free operation.
  • Knowledge and debugging experience of propulsion system (IC & Jet Engine) and on-board instruments.
  • Extensive pre-flight testing experience of all on-board instrumentation to find and eliminate performance issues.
  • Identifying the critical components and co-ordinating with the procurement team to ensure adequate availability of the components.


Must have skills:
  • Basic knowledge of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle platform, sizing, building and configuring UAVs.
  • Awareness of different hardware interfaces and protocols like UART, I2C, SPI, CAN etc and preparing necessary wiring harnesses.
  • Experience in any of the coding languages like C,C++, Python.
  • Fixed wing/ multi-rotor piloting.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electronic circuits and/or programs.
  • Hands-on Experience in integrating electronic components of UAVs.
  • Familiarity with flight controllers like KK 1.2.5 , APM, Pixhawk and autopilot stacks like Ardupilot/PX4 stack is preferred.
  • Experience with functionalities of basic GCS like Mission Planner or Qgroundcontrol..
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule during peak periods.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to work in teams in various work environments.
  • Acclimate to the current team culture, attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills.


Good to have skills:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill on integration and testing of Jet Engine, Fuel system components etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills being a part of Aeromodelling or Robotics clubs.
  • Participated in National Aeromodelling competitions like Techfest, SAE etc.


Basic Requirement (education & relevant experience):
  • M.E/M.Tech with hands-on experience in UAV integration, or
  • B.E/B.Tech with hands-on experience in UAV integration, or
  • Diploma in Engineering with hands-on experience in UAV integration and flight testing.
