The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment – with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 223 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Intern (24 hours per week) to join our news team. This is a unique opportunity to work with an iconic media brand and gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of journalism. Candidates should have a strong interest in hard news, along with an appreciation for entertainment and celebrity culture. 

Note: This internship is scheduled to run from February 3, 2025, to April 11, 2025 (10 weeks). Participants are expected to work approximately 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

• Cover breaking news stories across a variety of beats, including government, crime, and courts.

• Spend time on-site at City Hall, police bureaus, and courthouses to observe and report firsthand.

• Shadow seasoned reporters to learn the ins and outs of the news-gathering process.

• Assist in developing story ideas and pitches for the news team.

• Research and verify information to support ongoing stories and investigations.

• Write and contribute to news stories under the guidance of editors and reporters.

• Stay up-to-date on current events and provide input on trending topics.

Requirements:

• Excellent news judgment and a keen ability to identify compelling stories.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

• Familiarity with New York City and its surrounding areas is a plus.

• A passion for journalism and staying informed about hard news, entertainment, and celebrity culture.

• Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Bilingual in Spanish and/or access to a personal vehicle is a plus.

• A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn from experienced reporters and editors.
