We are looking for a talented individual to join our team at Victor. This position is based in Mississauga, Canada, and is a hybrid role that requires in-office work at least three days a week.

The candidate will manage the enhancements and maintenance of our IBM iSeries policy administration COBOL application, working collaboratively with a team of developers. In addition, the candidate will be instrumental in our modernization efforts as we progressively transition our legacy applications to Microsoft C# .NET Core

We will count on you to:

• Design, develop, and maintain COBOL ILE applications on the IBMi Series AS400 platform, utilizing OS400 and Copybooks for efficient coding practices.

• Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for Db2 databases and develop CL programs to support application functionality.

• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

• Participate in modernization activities, including supporting migrating legacy applications to C# .Net, ensuring smooth transitions and integration with existing systems.

• Perform code reviews, provide mentorship to junior developers, and troubleshoot application issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.

• Document technical specifications, processes, and procedures, and stay updated with industry trends and best practices related to COBOL development and the IBMi platform.

What you need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, with over 7 years of experience in COBOL ILE application development on the IBMi Series AS400.

• Strong proficiency in Db2 database management, SQL programming, and experience with CL programming in the OS400 environment.

• Familiarity with Copybooks and their application in COBOL development.

• Demonstrates excellent problem-solving and attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork, the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and a commitment to meeting business standards.
