Overview

Cloud Engineer leads a group in the development/implementation of applications/systems for the organization and serve as a Subject Manager Expert in the respective domain area. Provide comprehensive day-to-day oversight for design, development and testing in support of Navy Federal applications and systems. Lead and implement new operational, and enhance existing processes, incorporating lessons learned and industry best practices. Ensure compliance with SDLC, Application Development, EA, CCRM, DBA, Data, and Security standards and procedures. Uses best practices and broad knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services. Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline. Applies specific professional-level functional knowledge to solve problems requiring the identification and analysis of moderately complex issues.

Maintains the most complex business applications. Provides expert-level applications/programming expertise for large, complex internal development projects. Typically, the most senior internal technical consultant who directs program development in complex applications and systems where existing architectures and techniques provide little guidance. As subject matter expert, interfaces with executives on highest-level functional issues, providing recommendations and solutions with full understanding of cross-organizational impact and needs. May be recognized outside the organization as a thought-leader in area(s) of expertise. Proactively accumulate and maintain knowledge of current and merging/evolving technologies, concepts, and trends. Perform most complex/unusual tasks with complex analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead tasks including planning and execution for complex projects and programs.
• Identify, analyze, design, and maintain cost-effective information technology solutions that align with technical corporate strategies.
• Able to compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment.
• Analyze, define and document technical design for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating systems environment, interface with other systems, internal and external controls and output.
• Ensure clear, concise and effective communication of material.
• Prepare test data; conduct unit and string testing; debug code and systems components.
• Maintain and monitor systems/applications after implementation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application/solution problems.
• Develop and maintain solution documentation.
• Provide overall leadership to large strategic projects or programs.
• Serve as strategic advisor to senior management.
• Conduct research and analysis; make recommendations.
• Lead, guide and mentor less experienced staff
• Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or external contacts (vendors, etc.)
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Manage and maintain cloud platform stability and application performance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors.
• Expert knowledge of application development including determining, developing, testing, and implementing system requirements; designing, coding, debugging applications
• Extensive experience leading, guiding and mentoring others
• Working knowledge of credit union operations/processes and procedures desired
• Expert skill troubleshooting and resolving technical problems.
• Expert skill in systems analysis, workflow, or procedural analysis
• Expert skill applying innovative approaches to solve technical design issues.
• Expert skill influencing and guiding strategic thinking.
• Expert skill resolving conflicting requests and meeting changing requirements.
• Expert skill designing and deploying new, upgraded and/or existing systems.
• Expert skill analyzing and organizing problems or work processes for technical solutions.
• Expert verbal and written communication skills
• Expert in DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD.
• Expert organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Expert database and presentation software skills
• Expert research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in managing cloud platforms with a focus on SaaS and PaaS services.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, cloud security, and cloud infrastructure components.
• Strong Experience in cloud monitoring tools and performance metrics.
• Expert in problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Deep understanding of API design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Extensive experience with cloud services and architectures including serverless computing, microservices, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members,stakeholders and supervisors.
• Knowledge of API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, API Management, API Gateway, MuleSoft) and integration services.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science or other related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
