Data Migration Engineer
Job Summary:
The Data Migration Engineer will work closely with multiple stakeholders and the Nasuni Data Migration Project team to deliver migration services from identified CLIENT legacy data sources to the new Nasuni Cloud File Services Platform. The Data Migration Engineer will coordinate all data migration activities for a site and will create and operate the migration tools as necessary to complete the migration.
The employee must have administration or migration experience in a large-scale work environment. The Data Migration Engineer is required to have a background in server administration and storage to understand the effects of data reorganization amongst applications.
Responsibilities and Essentials Functions
Data Migration / Engineering
- Analyze the environment in which migration will occur
- Escalate any potential issues that are discovered
- Maintain data security, integrity, and availability
- Utilize software tools to migrate data
- Capture metrics of migration task status
- Create, read, and maintain batch files and scripts as needed
- Analyzing log files for errors and accuracy, a true testament to results and being able to measure success and accuracy
- Pros and Cons of data mergers and organization
- Perform necessary tasks to switch providers for data storage
Project Management
- Attend project meetings
- Provide concise status updates on areas of responsibility
- Maintain knowledge of the status of the project

Education and Experience:
- Minimum Associated degrees or equivalent experience in Information Technology or Computer Science required
- 5+ years of experience in Data Migration

- Create and edit Windows batch files and PowerShell scripts for automation
- Comprehensive knowledge of basic PowerShell commands, RoboCopy command-line switches, and SetACL, with a high understanding of the results.
- Understand and utilize data migration utilities (Robocopy, FastCopy, Rsync, DataDobi etc.)
- Able to communicate to a broad audience (Technical, Management, Day to Day Employees etc.)
- Strong knowledge in Active Directory NTFS when performing migrations and best practices. Inheritance, Shares, est.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to merge data sets with similar names into a single source
- General knowledge of diverse infrastructure, Server, Storage, Active Directory, and Networking.
- Linux administration including use of Vi
- Ability to assess migration over WAN and customize scripts accordingly.
- Ability to manage 100+ source data sets migrating to 100+ new unique destinations.
License and Certification:
- MCSA or Equivalent
- PowerShell for Administrators
- Cloud Platform Administration Certification
