Job Description
As a Specialist of Software Engineer reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Development, you'll play a critical role in designing and building complex production systems that power our technology platform.You'll thrive in this position if you're a hands-on engineer who thinks in systems, values ownership and craftsmanship, and brings a collaborative mindset to solving challenging technical problems at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain complex production systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Write high-quality code daily and own significant system components end-to-end, from architecture through production operations.
- Make technical decisions that balance correctness, performance, cost, and business impact across distributed systems.
- Identify architectural gaps and lead pragmatic improvements that strengthen system resilience and developer experience.
- Elevate engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship of peers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems in collaborative environments.
- Strong ability to design distributed systems and reason through tradeoffs involving asynchronous workflows, messaging, and failure modes.
- Proficiency in modern backend development using languages such as C#, Java, or JavaScript.
- Deep understanding of cloud and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, message queues event driven workflows etc.
- Experience with one of the major cloud platforms, like Azure, GCP or AWS
- Clear communicator with experience navigating ambiguity and driving technical decisions in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or operating multi-tenant, service-based architectures.
- Exposure to systems incorporating AI-driven capabilities in production environments.
- Track record of debugging complex production issues and leading system-level improvements.
This position offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days a week in office, subject to change), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $96,000 - $132,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
