Manager, Platform Engineering (DevOps)

Implement organization strategies through the effective direction and management of resources, while being accountable for the business strategies, functional or operational areas, processes, or programs.

Responsible and accountable for managing and developing a team of people, setting direction, and deploying resources on varying projects, participating in organization-wide projects, while providing guidance and expertise on an as needed basis. You will focus on driving technical and operational excellence through problem/opportunity analysis, planning and estimation, code reviews, and development and enforcement of technical standards. Managers are required to understand how other business units operate, how their goals align with organizational goals and have budget and profit/loss responsibility.

Designs, develops, modifies, adapts, and implements solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, and applications infrastructure. Reviews system requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs, and implements software solutions.

Leadership and Strategy:

• Provide technical leadership and mentor a team of DevSecOps engineers, SREs, and other technical engineers in designing, delivering, and supporting CI/CD pipelines, including security, monitoring, and alerting.
• Develops policies, procedures, and standards to optimize operational activities to drive efficiency and achieve continuous improvement with key performance indicators.
• Address technical or analytical skill gaps on the team.
• Translate projects into outcomes, adjust priorities, and align to team capacity.
• Develop and communicate a multi-cloud FinOps framework.

Technical Operations and Infrastructure:

• Lead all aspects of the design, provisioning, and management of cloud infrastructure and other technologies needed for application deployment and scaling.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of applications by implementing standard processes for monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Drive the implementation and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to automate software builds, tests, Security, and deployments.
• Develop platform tools to automate and optimize developers’ daily interactions with their development environments.

System Reliability:

• Partner with our engineering teams to validate designed solutions respond to non-functional requirements such as availability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure that reliability considerations are integrated into the software development lifecycle.
• Lead efforts to optimize system performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks, latency issues, and other performance-related challenges.

Security and Compliance:

• Collaborate with security teams to integrate security practices into the DevOps and SRE processes, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Implement security measures such as access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.

Incident Management and Response:

• Define and implement incident response processes, including communication plans, and post-incident analysis.
• Lead incident response efforts, ensuring rapid resolution and minimizing the impact on users and business operations.
• Implement post-incident reviews and drive improvements based on lessons earned.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in financial services.
• Automation orchestration tooling such as Jenkins, Gitlab pipelines, etc.
• Strong hands-on experience writing Terraform code including the creation and use of Terraform modules.
• Experience with prioritizing and handling a backlog of development and maintenance work, including estimating work tasks and forecasting skill requirements to support business outcomes.
• Experience with a hub and spoke DevOps model supporting multiple organizations.
• Must have senior level knowledge of AWS cloud services.
• Must have experience in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, ECS)
• Python, PowerShell, bash, SQL
