Job Summary

The Project Engineer (Security Solutions) will plan, coordinate and deliver technical security systems engineering and installation activities across projects from design through commissioning. The role will provide engineering support to project teams, liaise with clients and supply chain partners, ensure installations meet functional and regulatory requirements, and contribute to project delivery that is safe, on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review design and technical documentation for security systems including access control, intruder detection, CCTV, perimeter detection and integrated security solutions; ensure drawings, schematics and specifications are accurate and constructible.

  • Produce and maintain project work packs, installation drawings, cable schedules, equipment lists and site test plans in line with project requirements and company standards.

  • Coordinate with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to sequence activities, manage interfaces and ensure timely delivery of equipment and services.

  • Provide technical leadership on site: supervise installations, resolve technical queries, conduct inspections and ensure workmanship meets quality and safety standards.

  • Plan and carry out system integration, configuration and commissioning activities; perform functional testing, fault finding and remedial works to achieve client acceptance criteria.

  • Prepare and maintain project progress reports, test records, commissioning certificates, handover documentation and as‑built drawings for client review and project closeout.

  • Support procurement by specifying equipment, evaluating technical proposals, raising technical queries and assisting with vendor selection and factory acceptance testing where required.

  • Provide technical input to commercial activities including change control, variation assessments and technical responses to client queries; support resolution of defects during the defects liability period.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Security Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

  • Minimum 3–6 years’ experience in design, installation and commissioning of physical security systems within construction, facilities management or security integrator environments.

  • Technical knowledge of CCTV, access control, intruder detection, perimeter protection, and IP/networked security systems; familiarity with integration platforms and protocols (e.g. ONVIF, TCP/IP).

  • Practical experience producing installation drawings, cable schedules, schematics and test/commissioning documentation.

  • Proficient with relevant engineering tools and Microsoft Office; experience with CAD or similar drawing software is desirable.

  • Understanding of electrical installation principles, power distribution for low‑voltage systems and associated health & safety requirements; relevant electrical qualifications or experience desirable.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to clients, stakeholders and site teams.

  • Organised and proactive, able to prioritise tasks, manage multiple interfaces and work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites and undertake occasional out‑of‑hours support during commissioning or critical project phases.
