As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and building a highly scalable and robust backend infrastructure that supports our AI and machine learning capabilities. You will lead the architectural vision, ensuring that our platform can handle massive volumes of data and complex processing tasks with reliability and efficiency. This role requires deep expertise in backend systems, scalability, and AI technologies.

We seek a candidate with a deep curiosity about the fundamental workings of the Internet, GPUs, and computers, coupled with strong expertise in Linux and AI or GPU hardware. Proficiency in coding with Python, Go, or similar languages is essential. This high-visibility role requires comprehensive technical knowledge of bare metal GPU orchestration, physical and logical networking, Linux, and basic project management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Architectural Design: Develop and implement the overall architecture  focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Scalable Infrastructure: Design and build a backend system capable of handling large-scale data processing and high-throughput requirements, ensuring the system can efficiently scale as needed.

• AI Integration: Work closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to integrate AI models and algorithms into the platform, optimizing for performance and resource utilization.

• Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to support the platform’s needs and future growth.

• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, addressing bottlenecks and ensuring high availability and low latency.

• Code Quality: Establish and enforce best practices in code quality, architecture patterns, and documentation, ensuring a maintainable and robust codebase.

• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, data scientists, and product managers, to align on technical requirements and deliver integrated solutions.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development and architecture, with a strong focus on designing and implementing scalable systems.

• Advanced software development skills in C++, Go, Rust, or similar system languages.

• Proficiency in Python at an intermediate level.

• Proven experience in building and optimizing high-performance, distributed systems and APIs.

• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code systems such as Terraform and Pulumi.

• Solid understanding of low-level operating systems concepts, including multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization, VPNs, GPU workloads.

• GPU programming and CUDA knowledge are advantageous.
