The Assistant Vice President – Senior Windows & Automation Engineer is responsible for the engineering, automation, and operational reliability of the Windows Server platform estate across APAC. The role will drive platform standardization, infrastructure modernization, automation, and service improvement initiatives by leveraging Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and AIOps methodologies. 

The incumbent will collaborate with regional infrastructure, security, architecture, and application teams to deliver scalable and resilient platform solutions while reducing operational risk, manual effort, and service complexity. This role plays a critical part in strengthening operational resilience, enhancing service quality, and supporting the Bank’s digital transformation objectives through intelligent automation and engineering-led operations.

Key Accountabilities

1. Platform Strategy and Governance

  • Execute the APAC virtualization platform strategy & roadmap (VMware, Hyper-V, VCF, hybrid cloud integration).
  • Support the Regional Virtualization Team Lead in maintaining the regional Product Owner model across design, build, operate, and risk activities.
  • Drive regional standardization and simplification of hosting and virtualization platforms.
  • Align platform roadmap with business, regulatory, and transformation priorities (e.g., regionalization programs).

2. Architecture and Engineering

  • Own the enterprise architecture for virtualization and hosting platforms (compute, hypervisor, storage integration).
  • Establish and govern reference architecture, design standards, and engineering controls.
  • Lead modernization initiatives (VMware upgrades, cloud integration, automation, VCF adoption).
  • Ensure platforms meet HA/DR, performance, and security design requirements.

3. Operations and Service Management

  • Provide executive oversight for 24x7 platform operations across APAC.
  • Ensure stability, availability, capacity, patching, and lifecycle management of virtualization environments.
  • Lead major incident management, escalations, and cross-tower coordination.
  • Drive automation-first operations (Ansible, PowerShell, IaC).

4. Observability & SRE Enablement

  • Establish an observability-first operating model (metrics, logging, tracing).
  • Drive adoption of SRE practices (SLO/SLA, error budgets, resilience engineering).
  • Improve operational visibility using platforms such as Dynatrace / Splunk / equivalent.

5. Risk, Security and Audit

  • Ensure platforms are secure and compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., MAS, internal audit).
  • Own vulnerability remediation, patch compliance, and security posture.
  • Lead audit engagements and ensure audit-ready evidence and controls.
  • Govern privileged access and platform identity controls.

6.. Regionalization and Transformation

  • Drive migration of branch workloads to regional platforms (hosting consolidation).
  • Lead capacity optimization and cost discipline (CAPEX/OPEX governance).
  • Standardize operating models across APAC branches (patching, monitoring, DR, automation).

7. Stakeholder and Governance Management

  • Act as senior escalation point for virtualization and hosting domains.
  • Partner with application, middleware, network, security, and cloud teams.
  • Present platform health, risks, roadmap, and investment proposals to EXCO / SteerCo.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and risk governance forums.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in IT Infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience working within banking or financial services technology environments where regulatory compliance and security are paramount.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering large-scale automation projects across infrastructure landscapes.
  • Expert-level proficiency (L2) in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript for developing custom scripts and integrating diverse systems efficiently.
  • Solid understanding (L2) of API integration techniques, along with hands-on experience using DevOps tools for continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Deep expertise (L2) in Windows administration, MECM, and JSON/YAML scripting formats.
  • Self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Microsoft and related infrastructure product certifications or relevant project references are considered advantageous.
  • Open to working in extended shifts or weekends on a regular or rotational basis.
  • Candidates who are already based in Bangalore will be preferred.
  • Experience working as part of virtual teams in regional or global technology roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
