QA Engineer

Time Type: Full time

Job Description

Join the company defining what it means to be an Impact Lender!

Mortgages are what we do, but that doesn't define who we are. In 2008, Movement disrupted the industry with the innovative 6-7-1 mortgage process. In 2023, we pioneered again, helping launch Impact Lending – a new category of lending. Any mortgage lender that commits at least 10% of its profits to helping the neighborhoods it serves is an Impact Lender.

At Movement, we are Impact Lenders. We give 40%-50% of our profits to making an impact in our communities. For us, purpose and people have always come before profit.

How You'll Contribute

  • Learn and apply modern software quality engineering practices across web applications, APIs, and integrated systems.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test coverage.
  • Partner with software engineers and product teams to validate new features and identify issues early in the development lifecycle.
  • Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve testing workflows, productivity, and software quality.
  • Assist with API testing, test data creation, and test environment validation.
  • Investigate defects, troubleshoot issues, and help drive resolution.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Continuously experiment with new tools, technologies, and approaches that improve engineering effectiveness.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or expected graduation within six months).
  • Early in your career and excited to build a strong engineering foundation.
  • Naturally curious and driven to understand how systems work, why they fail, and how they can be improved.
  • Someone who enjoys building, tinkering, troubleshooting, and learning new technologies.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and figuring things out when the answer isn't immediately obvious.
  • Excited about AI-assisted software development, automation, and emerging engineering tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to learn quickly through hands-on experience, experimentation, and collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, coursework, personal projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, homelab projects, or other examples of technical curiosity and self-directed learning.
  • Exposure to Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with Git, APIs, SQL, or modern development tools.
  • Exposure to software testing or automation concepts.
  • Interest in using AI to improve software development and quality engineering practices
