Java Full stack - Director - ETS (Enterprise Tech & Services)

Profile Description

We’re seeking someone to join our team as (Director) Java Full stack Engineer for our Data Engineering team.  This role will help us implement the control measures that are needed to improve our posture across data products ,with regard to the regulatory assessments and also to develop and enhance the tooling around Redis Cache and Databricks.    

ETS (Enterprise Tech & Services)

Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for Morgan Stanley supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of Morgan Stanley’s software development lifecycle, enabling productive coding, functional and integration testing, application releases, and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3,000 production applications. ETS also delivers all workplace technologies (desktop, mobile, voice, video, productivity, intranet/internet) in integrated configurations that boost the personal productivity of employees. Application and end user functions are delivered on a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure composed of seamlessly integrated datacenter, network, compute, cloud, storage, and database functions.

Enterprise Computing (EC)

Enterprise Computing is a department of Core Infrastructure that provides a collection of products and services that make up the Morgan Stanley core compute infrastructure, hosting platforms and supporting application services. Solutions are delivered across the infrastructure stack from foundational hardware platforms, storage, server operating systems and virtualization up through the hosting of common web, database, middleware and reporting services.

Technical Specialist

This is a Director position within our Technical Specialist function, which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage.

What you’ll do in the role:

• Develop features for Databricks and Redis, focussing on the control gaps.

• As an individual contributor, you will gather requirements accurately from time to time and deliver high quality deliverables to production with minimal defects.

• This person must be a quick learner, adept at managing relationships.

What you’ll bring to the role:

 Primary Skill

• At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

• Strong academic record with bachelor’s level or above in a computational field like Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline

• Key technologies are Java 11/17, ReactJS, RESTful APIs and MongoDB.

• Object Oriented Programming

• scripting languages - Perl/Python/Shell as well as UNIX platform experience.

• Understanding of SDLC

• Integrity & ownership, good team player, ability to work under time and resource dependencies and constraints, ability to find simple and effective solutions, high degree of motivation to expand technical and business knowledge.

Desired Skill

• Prior experience working on infrastructure would be a plus
