As part of our Migration Services Practice, you will help customers focussed on migrating their legacy relational-based applications to a more modern cloud-based architecture running on MongoDB, leveraging the latest GenAI tools and approaches to accelerate this process. You will collaborate with the Product team on surfacing application modernization and relational migration use cases and serve as a trusted partner for delivering the productized features.  and You will also act as a liaison between the PS teams driving customer application modernization and our Product team.

Position Expectations

  • Be excited about new technologies and approaches on projects as they evolve, especially relating to legacy App modernization, leveraging cutting edge developments to fulfill migration projects
  • Operate in a small, dynamic, fast-growing team, able to be self-sufficient with an ability to have a can-do attitude and make oneself accountable
  • Take ownership of your scope of responsibility and autonomously drive progress on product knowledge, building content and adding to our knowledge base, defining enablement areas and prioritize based on customer requests and needs
  • Cultivate and build your reputation as a Relational Migration SME and as a trusted advisor to guide MongoDB and our customers into the future
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to influence the direction of the MongoDB product roadmap. Influence MongoDB product development by contributing experience from the field. Communicate the product roadmap to external clients
  • Follow existing best practice application modernization playbooks where applicable and be prepared to innovate to fill in gaps with creative solutions to solve challenges on each specific project - owning and driving their implementation to a successful onboarding on MongoDB Atlas
  • Contribute to customer implementations at any or all phases of the application lifecycle with a focus on migrations: application planning and design, deployment architectures, development and build, integration and release configuration, system testing, production operations, application optimization, and best practices adoption
  • Communicate sophisticated technical proposals simply and convincingly to a wide range of audiences
  • Adopt a consultative and prescriptive approach that inspires trust and confidence

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field and a technology first mindset to build credibility with and engage with some of the smartest technologists in the world
  • 5+ years experience with enterprise-scale software solutions, large-scale software engineering, or consulting services delivery experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in building or supporting applications that interact with relational databases using SQL
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL. Additionally, experience with MongoDB is a plus. 
  • Some experience in working with distributed streaming platforms, such as Apache Kafka and/or ETL tools
  • High motivation for a role that combines deep technical and customer-management dimensions
  • Excellent customer interaction and presentation skills (ability to present to different audiences and bring the message across in a concise, professional manner) 
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Linux diagnostics and tuning; Windows tuning knowledge is a plus
  • Ability for occasional travel - up to 20% of the time

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Competence in at least one of the following languages: Java, C++, C#, Python, Node.js (JavaScript), Ruby, Perl, Scala, Go
  • Some experience in nascent GenAI technologies and approaches, such as using OpenAI API with GPT LLMs
  • Practical experience of using MongoDB

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
