Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete Packaging Design and Packaging Deployment for Innovation/Growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct activities to generate appropriate packaging information, using sampling and supplier management, and pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In this role, you will plan and conduct process development activities (e.g. packaging design and specifications, packaging scale up, commissioning etc.) and help with planning and the effective use of resources, including the use of external agencies. You will also create technical reports, which will require your skills in analysis and interpretation of results that will lead to conclusions and recommendations; create and maintain accurate packaging specifications; and create intellectual property to drive our competitive advantage.

More about this role

This is an R&D Packaging Development position within the MENAP & SSA Packaging team with cross-category scope; responsible for delivering against multiple Biscuits & Baked Snacks as well as Beverages brands in Egypt. You must have experience in package development and plant trial execution in a fast-paced environment. You must possess strong technical skills and the ability to learn on the fly.
With the support and guidance of a manager and a technical mentor, you will organize and execute projects in line with R&D, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks to stakeholders. You will plan and conduct activities such as bench top experimentation, pilot plant trials and plant trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMP) and HACCP requirements. You will leverage your packaging skills to conduct prototyping, package design & sizing, material selection and specifications, pallet patterns, etc. You will create technical reports which will require your skills in analysis and interpretation of results that will lead to conclusions and recommendations. You will create and maintain accurate packaging specifications and potentially participate in the development of intellectual property to drive our competitive advantage whenever applicable.

This position reports to the R&D Packaging Lead for MENAP & SSA. You will be part of cross-functional teams delivering Innovation, Renovation, Productivity, Quality and Sustainability efforts. You will work with product and process development, marketing, quality, procurement, finance, supply chain, suppliers, and others.

• Graphics/artworks: apply knowledge around the printing process to determine how it affects package performance. Effectively apply to business issues and make appropriate recommendations.

Education / Certifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.

Job specific requirements:

2-3 years' experience in a packaging development role, including internship experience.
