Reliability Engineer - Optical Solutions

In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for all the reliability related activities of the research and development of the optical products for telecom and datacom industries, especially of the optical cross-connect switches to be developed and manufactured in Fremont, CA. This person will work with multi-disciplinary teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites to ensure the quality reliability of the developed fiber optical products.

What You Will Do

Cooperate with the development team to monitor reliability validation plan of new products according to products characteristics, customer's requirements as well as conforming to industry standards
Plan and conduct all Telcordia testing for all product lines
Ensure all lab and test equipment is in working condition and calibrated
Perform database maintenance for all tests and test results
Analyze all data for trends etc, using JMP software
Perform physics of failure mechanisms
Perform accelerated life testing to determine lifetime calculation and perform lifetime prediction analysis
Conduct Design for Reliability (DfR) exercises
Work with project leaders to identify design risks from the view of reliability and help to perform thorough DFMEA
Develop the reliability assessment plan of product lifecycle in real application conditions
Work with engineers to do failure analysis during the product development and manufacturing stages.
Write reliability reports as per Telcordia and other standards

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in any: quality engineering, material science, reliability engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or similar discipline
Experience with quality and reliability tools, technologies, and methods, such as FMEA, Six sigma, FRACAS and/or 8D
At least 5 years experiences in a reliability focused role
Experience with reliability engineering principles and reliability test procedures
Experience with statistical process control
Experience with reliability testing standards and methods, such as Telcordia standards
Experience with common reliability phenomena, failure mechanism, and common failure analysis methods
Good understanding of Failure Analysis methods and tools especially in Material Science, PCBA, PCB, optical epoxies, lasers, PD, MPD and electrical components

What Will Put You Ahead

Use of Reliasoft or equivalent Reliability tools is a plus
Familiar with 8D, 5 Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and PPAP) and problem solving
Good understanding of Optical Components (Laser, Fiber Array, COSA etc.,) volume production methods
Excellent with flexible PCB(FPC) or PCB knowledge of manufacturing and production process

For this role, we anticipate paying $118,000 - $182,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
