ModMed is hiring a driven AI Compliance Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, security, trustworthiness, fairness, and compliance of all data associated with our AI systems. Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, this individual will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the data lifecycle within AI workflows. They will ensure that all AI data processes comply with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and organizational best practices.

This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of data governance, AI models, and compliance protocols. The AI Compliance Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and the AVP of Regulatory Compliance, to ensure the integrity, security, and ethical management of AI-related data within a fast-paced Healthcare IT company that is truly Modernizing Medicine!

Your Role:

  • Continuously monitor and maintain AI-related data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant policies and regulations, utilizing Alignment to streamline the monitoring process and ensure real-time accuracy.
  • Ensure all AI systems adhere to applicable regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and internal data governance policies, including data privacy, security, and fairness.
  • Implement processes and controls to ensure the security and integrity of AI data, including auditing and monitoring for anomalies or potential compliance risks.
  • Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and the AVP of Regulatory Compliance to design and implement AI models that adhere to compliance and ethical guidelines.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of data processes, compliance efforts, and AI model performance, preparing regular reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators as required.
  • Identify potential compliance risks related to AI systems and workflows. Propose and implement strategies to mitigate those risks and ensure compliance with emerging regulations.
  • Advocate for and implement ethical AI practices by ensuring fairness, transparency, and the reduction of bias in AI models and data processing workflows
  • Oversee end-to-end AI data lifecycle management, including data sourcing, cleaning, storage, and disposal, ensuring alignment with AI objectives and compliance standards.
  • Stay updated on evolving AI regulations, best practices, and industry standards, ensuring continuous improvements in AI compliance and data governance efforts.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in data governance, compliance, or risk management within a technology-focused environment, preferably in cloud-based systems or AI-driven organizations.
  • 2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms, especially AWS, with hands-on experience in managing and optimizing data pipelines and cloud-based data infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and integrating compliance-related functions within AI workflows.
  • Proven experience in AI data management and lifecycle processes, including the design, implementation, and monitoring of data compliance frameworks within AI models and workflows.
  • Familiarity with ethical AI practices, including bias mitigation, transparency, and fairness in machine learning models.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and compliance/legal teams, to ensure alignment on compliance and ethical standards in AI systems.
  • Prior experience in risk assessment and mitigation for cloud-based AI applications, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring system integrity and security.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services, particularly AWS services such as S3, with the ability to apply best practices for data security and compliance.
  • Proficiency in data governance and compliance frameworks relevant to AI and cloud-based operations, including familiarity with standards such as ONC certification and  NIST. 
  • Excellent analytical skills for evaluating and implementing compliance measures within AI models, including data auditing, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Solid knowledge of AI and machine learning principles, including how data flows through AI systems and the compliance challenges they present.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with cross-functional teams, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity in compliance-related matters.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills for identifying compliance risks and taking proactive steps to mitigate them.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting tools and techniques, including documentation and reporting of compliance efforts and system performance.
  • Knowledge of ethical AI practices and experience applying fairness and transparency principles in machine learning models.
