Principal Engineer

We’re looking for a Principal Engineer to join our team!

As a Principal Engineer, you will drive the technological advancement of our clients' infrastructure, you will lead the technical direction of the modernisation program, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and security. You will take accountability for all technical decisions, providing engineering expertise and representation across the Fintech organisation and shaping engineering business decisions and processes.

Note: Depending on the project and our clients' needs, you may get the chance to pack your bags and take off every now and then. Typically, we estimate travel time to be between 0% and 15%.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Leading and delivering the technical and engineering outcomes required to design, develop and implement complex systems and applications;
• Providing leadership for technical disciplines, competencies and professions, and developing architectures, standards, and tools;
• Hiring and setting up the technology teams required to deliver the business changes;
• Overseeing the transition of legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions;
• Collaborating with Solution Architects to ensure alignment with architectural standards and business objectives;
• Mentoring and guiding engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence;
• Developing and enforcing standardised development and deployment practices;
• Ensuring the integration and compatibility of new systems with existing business processes;
• Performing code reviews and providing technical feedback to ensure high-quality software delivery;
• Establishing performance benchmarks and monitoring protocols to maintain system health and efficiency;
• Providing training and supporting to staff on new technologies and practices;
• Providing input in running experiments and Proof of Concept (PoC) within the group;
• Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the area, providing knowledge sharing sessions and thought leadership;
• Developing and deploying new solutions for building a high velocity, high performance development organisation;
• Enabling us to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage through the creation, continual refinement, and active enforcement of our development standards.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in C#;
• Proven experience with cloud technologies, especially Azure;
• Strong leadership and mentorship skills. Continuously improving yourself and the team;
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to details;
• Strong understanding of database management, particularly SQL;
• Experience with large-scale system integrations and modernisation projects;
• Excellent communication skills, - communicating ideas succinctly both written and verbally; Ability to communicate effectively the technology vision, strategy and direction to business and technology stakeholders;
• Experience in Fintech projects is a must;
• Fluency in English.
