Software Development Engineers in Test - Senior & Principal (Hybrid)

We are recruiting for a number of Software Developer Engineers in Test to work cross-functionally on the latest cloud infrastructure and platforms to build services providing security for collaboration suites in Bangalore, India.

We are looking for Software Development Engineers in Test to join us in validating our security products and associated platforms. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an automate-first mindset, ready to validate complex test environments with many touch points. A positive attitude and willingness to learn and share are essential.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the planning, estimation, and refinement of stories, epics, and design changes as part of an Agile Scrum team.
  • Build out test plans to cover new areas of functionality, ensuring all necessary testing is performed.
  • Refine acceptance criteria into testable units and converting those into automated tests that execute efficiently and reliably.
  • Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and ensuring successful automation as part of our standard build process.
  • Occasional manual testing when automation is not an option.
  • Report, reproduce, and help development resolve defects – emphasis on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and prevention of similar issues in the future.
  • Monitor our results and driving continuous improvement through process changes.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers.
  • Contribute to design/code reviews for product and test code.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (or similar role).
  • Engineering / Computer science degree or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience test planning and breaking down stories/requirements into testable units.
  • 4+ years of significant test automation work, validating both back-end and front-end interfaces in at least one high-level object-oriented language, including:

  • Extensive experience automating business logic in the services layer (RESTful API, SDK, or CLI, as appropriate).
  • Proficiency in validating contract, functionality, correctness, and performance of REST API endpoints.
  • Specific API testing experience using RestAssured, Java, Python, or Cypress required.  Experience using Postman or similar for manual validation is also helpful.
  • Familiarity with BDD tools like Cucumber, Jasmine, or equivalent.
  • Clear understanding of how to manage risk through negative testing, boundary/limits testing, load/soak testing, and other test aspects as appropriate, including system integration, performance/scale, security, and L10N/I18N.
  • Experience testing Java-based back end / microservices required.  Experience with other services (Python, PHP, Go) helpful.

  • Moderate experience in validation of UI-functionality and rendering, End-to-End testing, and UAT scenarios.
    • Extensive knowledge of Cypress with demonstratable experience in Protractor / Selenium.
    • Knowledge of Web Browsers, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, JSON, XML, integration with APIs, web servers.  React knowledge is also helpful.
    • Great knowledge of testing design patterns - for example, the Page Object Model.

  • Database familiarity (types, schemas, SQL queries, basic operations) and ability to incorporate database-side validation into automated tests.
  • Experience with multithreading, concurrency, SaaS, and multi-tenant architectures.
  • Proven ability to integrate with and automate using third party APIs (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Amazon etc).
  • Some working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Office365, Azure Active Directory, and Windows Server.

Desired Demonstratable Experience:

  • Working knowledge of public cloud, especially AWS.
  • Experience developing QA Automation tests and frameworks.
  • Experience testing fault resilient services.
  • Experience in working with highly scalable and distributed systems.
  • Understanding of the network protocols like HTTP, SMTP, POP.
  • Basic understanding of security protocols like HTTPS, SSL / TLS, SSH.

 Other Skills:

  • Experience with Agile Scrum.
  • Experience working in DevOps and Continuous Delivery model using Jenkins.
  • Basic understanding of authorization protocols such as OAuth.
  • Basic Linux administration.
  • Bash and PowerShell scripting.
