Mimecast is looking for a Senior Software Engineer experienced in cloud application development to join our new team in Bangalore. The purpose of the team is to design, implement and operate the next generation of Mimecast products whilst contributing to the underlying Mimecast Platform.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer in the TRR team, you will play a pivotal role in developing, and maintaining scalable systems. You will be passionate about designing and developing new features and enhancements to make the applications perform better, improve efficacy and resilience. While we work on making a resilient and scalable solution, you will also be required to handle incidents and, most importantly, protect customers by minimising impacts on them by maintaining effective and swift communication and providing quick solutions in high pressure situations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Build state of the art services that enable our customers to protect their organisations against modern security threats.
• Craft products for rapid delivery in an Agile development environment using DevOps practices.
• Help identify improvements and promote positive change within working groups and individuals.
• Mentor others in your areas of expertise
• Highlight and drive improvements to the Software Engineering Environment
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for one or more product/feature sets or Engineering domains.
• Work closely with Product Management, UX designers, and the larger engineering team to deliver quality products.
• Collaborate with the team to come up with technical designs and solutions with adequate documentation.
• Work closely with the team, principals and Architects to discuss solution and implementation strategy.
• Take full ownership of projects from design to implementation and deployment.
• Write quality code to meet business needs and quality standards.
• Help maintain the platform by fixing bugs and issues coming from the operational pipeline.
• Perform code reviews of fellow developers.
• Champion best practices and enable and support more junior members of the team.

What You’ll Bring:

• Previous experience in similar role as Software Developer.
• Strong skills in Java 8 and above or similar programming language.
• Experience leveraging public cloud development and tools such as AWS, Docker and Terraform.
• Experience designing & building APIs & Micro-Services.
• Deep understanding of the Object-Oriented programming patterns and best practices.
• Knowledge of the web platform as a whole e.g. React, Angular, JavaScript, HTTP/S, web performance, web security, frameworks).
• Experience of working with Message Queues e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Defensive coding practices and awareness of OWASP Top 10 and similar security vulnerabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and evidence of successful collaboration with designers and product owners.
• Passion for tackling complexity with simplicity and building platforms that can scale through multiple orders of magnitude.
• Ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others.
• Intellectually curious, passionate, and inventive.
• A sense of urgency and ownership over the product.
