Meet the Team
Information Technology is core to the health and growth of Millennium’s business. The firm’s active, multi-manager model demands flexible, scalable technology and advanced proprietary systems, including the development of next-generation analytical and trading capabilities. The Latency Critical Trading team delivers high-quality, low-latency trading capabilities for Millennium’s businesses through a world-class Linux platform and production support. The team brings together Linux, network, SRE, and software engineers focused on stable, high-performing server environments, continuous learning, and meaningful platform improvement.

What You'll Do
• Support and maintain the firm’s globally distributed, trading-oriented Linux stack for latency-critical environments.
• Partner with application developers and portfolio managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
• Assist in the design and build of new ultra-low-latency trading capabilities.
• Monitor the performance, stability, and health of the latency-critical computing environment.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, including packet loss, high latency, instability, kernel bypass, routing and switching, multicast protocols, and precision timing systems.
• Identify risks, develop contingency plans, and communicate client needs and platform priorities to regional and global leadership.
• Automate operational tasks and contribute to improvements that strengthen platform reliability, performance, and supportability.
• Participate in occasional monthly on-call responsibilities and help maintain documentation and training materials for the team.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong understanding of Linux system internals, including kernel operations, memory management, sockets, and interrupts.
• Working knowledge of kernel bypass technologies such as Onload or VMA, including why they are used in low-latency environments.
• Solid understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and IGMP, and how the Linux kernel handles them.
• Knowledge of FPGA accelerators and smart NICs, including their operation, maintenance, strengths, and limitations.
• Ability to automate manual and infrastructure processes using Python, Perl, or another high-performance interpreted language; Ansible experience or a strong desire to develop it.
• Some understanding of compiled programming languages such as C or C++ and their dependencies.
• Clear, professional communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for making Linux systems perform consistently at speed.
