Meet the Team
The Algo Development Technology team is part of Millennium’s Information Technology organization. Millennium’s active, multi-manager business model relies on flexible, scalable technology and advanced proprietary systems, including next-generation analytical and trading capabilities. The team develops execution algorithms and trading platforms used by portfolio managers to trade equities and futures globally, partnering closely with quantitative and execution-trading colleagues in a collaborative global engineering environment. It is a small, senior team that emphasizes end-to-end ownership, automation, and AI-assisted tooling across development, testing, and support.

What You'll Do

• Partner with technology, Execution Services, and Equity Finance teams to enhance execution capabilities for portfolio managers across the firm.
• Build and evolve real-time algorithmic trading systems and execution platforms in a fast-paced environment.
• Deliver high-quality features and enhancements for mission-critical trading infrastructure.
• Design, improve, and upgrade software to meet performance, reliability, and quality expectations.
• Translate business requirements and market constraints across developed and emerging markets into effective technical solutions.
• Apply current technologies, technical libraries, computing environments, and relevant academic research to improve the platform.
• Perform data analysis and provide Level 3 troubleshooting support for critical trading infrastructure.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of software development experience with algorithmic trading or order management systems.
• Strong server-side Java expertise, including Spring Boot.
• Experience working with financial order and execution data, position data, and market data.
• Knowledge of equities, options, smart order routing, VWAP, algorithmic trading platforms, or market microstructure.
• Strong focus on software testability; experience with TDD or XP-based development is preferred.
• Experience using and enhancing proprietary Java frameworks and design patterns, including low- or no-GC design, messaging sessions, and multithreading.
• Understanding of DevOps practices and the ability to drive test automation.
• Strong knowledge of Asian equity markets, including auctions, market microstructure, and regulatory constraints; experience with inventory optimization in developing Asian markets is highly desirable.
