Staff Engineer OEM Digital Diagnostics + Vet Products

Location: Cincinnati, OH, United States

JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff OEM Product Engineering Lead is Midmark's primary engineering point person for white-label and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) product partnerships supporting the Veterinary and Digital Diagnostics businesses. This role coordinates partner and product evaluation, requirements alignment, review of OEM technical and compliance evidence, launch readiness, technical knowledge transfer, and lifecycle engineering activities for externally designed and manufactured products. Working through a cross-functional team that includes Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Cybersecurity, Product Management and Marketing, Technical Service, Operations, and Supply Chain, this teammate brings the right expertise together, asks critical questions, drives decisions and closure, and ensures Midmark is prepared to launch, support, and improve each product.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Serves as Midmark's primary engineering point of contact for evaluating, selecting, launching, supporting, and improving white-label and OEM products across the Veterinary and Diagnostics portfolios.

  • Establishes technical governance for each OEM relationship, including roles, milestones, deliverables, decision rights, communication cadence, escalation paths, and change-control expectations.

  • Coordinates cross-functional due diligence of partners and products, engaging the appropriate internal experts to assess design maturity, manufacturing capability, quality systems, regulatory status, cybersecurity, serviceability, supply continuity, and technical risk.

  • Coordinates requirements alignment among the OEM and Midmark's Systems Engineering, Product Management and Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Technical Service, Operations, and other stakeholders; identifies gaps and drives agreement on acceptance criteria.

  • Coordinates review of OEM technical, verification, validation, reliability, cybersecurity, usability, standards, and compliance evidence; ensures gaps, internal reviewers, required actions, and closure criteria are clearly defined.

  • Maintains the integrated engineering plan and drives OEM and internal teams to complete technical actions, resolve issues, make timely decisions, and meet agreed launch and lifecycle milestones.

  • Leads technical knowledge transfer from the OEM, ensuring Midmark teams have the product understanding, documentation access, configuration information, test evidence, service content, known risks, and change history needed to launch, support, troubleshoot, and improve the product.

  • Serves as the engineering point person for OEM product issues and changes, connecting the OEM with the appropriate Midmark experts and coordinating impact assessment, investigation, corrective action, implementation planning, and stakeholder communication.

  • Facilitates lifecycle and roadmap reviews with OEM and internal teams; monitors quality, reliability, complaints, responsiveness, obsolescence, cost, delivery, and documentation health and drives improvement priorities and risk reduction.

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  • Supports sourcing strategy, requests for proposals, technical exhibits, quality agreements, statements of work, supplier audits, and business reviews.

  • Coordinates engineering participation in post-market surveillance, complaint investigations, field actions, regulatory submissions, and Technical Service escalations for OEM products.

  • Establishes scalable methods, templates, and best practices for OEM product development and lifecycle governance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, manufacturing, systems, or related engineering discipline, and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive experience leading technical relationships with OEMs, contract manufacturers, or critical suppliers is required. Experience with medical devices, diagnostics, veterinary products, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.

COMPETENCY and/or SKILL:

  • Ability to lead complex OEM programs through a cross-functional matrix and influence outcomes without direct authority.

  • Technical breadth across product design, systems, manufacturing, quality, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, reliability, service, technical knowledge transfer, and lifecycle support.

  • Working knowledge of regulated product development, including design controls, risk management, traceability, verification and validation, configuration management, change control, and corrective action.

  • Ability to assess incomplete information, ask incisive questions, identify hidden assumptions and risks, and drive evidence-based decisions.

  • Strong program management, structured problem-solving, negotiation, relationship-management, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical issues into clear customer, compliance, schedule, cost, and business impacts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No supervisory responsibilities. Provides technical leadership and coordination across internal functional teams, contractors, and OEM partner resources.
