Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.

​​The Azure Databases SQL Customer Success Engineering team is highly collaborative, data-oriented, with deep technical product knowledge. Team is focused on unblocking and accelerating complex Data Modernization engagements and gaiting product issues with our customers.  Team is primarily focused on Azure SQL services including SQL Server and Arc along with Oracle, Db2 & Sybase modernizations. ​

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications

​• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience in the area of SQL Server, Azure SQL, Oracle.
• Proven customer facing experience.
• Enterprise-scale data migration experience from SQL/Oracle platforms, starting from project scoping to data/app migration and final certification and post-migration optimizations.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

•Development experience with programming languages like PowerShell, C# & C++.
• Exposure to enterprise architecture building complex globally distributed solutions. 

Responsibilities:

• Strong developer & architecture background with expertise in SQL Server & Azure SQL.
• Proven experience in Oracle DB/RAC to drive modernizations to Azure SQL will be a key skillset.
• Extensive experience in building SQL based distributed, low latency, high throughput applications adhering to compliance requirements will be critical skillset to succeed in this role.
• Working knowledge of replication solutions SQL native as well as 3^rd party replication technologies like HVR, Qlik, Striim, or Oracle GoldenGate.
• Ability to engage in customer facing complex engagements ranging from PoCs to performance tuning & optimization.

• Work with feature PMs and Software Engineers from other Azure Database teams to improve our products and services by finding and suggesting well-researched improvements and taking charge of driving these changes when needed.
• Document and share learnings and technical best practices / insights within engineering as well as the wider architect community and contribute to key engineering activities such as telemetry, code and design specification reviews.
• Advise on best practice architectures for data relevant solutions and execute quick technical feasibility and proposals for moving identified workloads to Azure Data Platform.
• Ensure security is front and center of all architecture proposals and work as well as a cornerstone of all custom developed IPs and solutions.
