Software Engineer II

Microsoft Defender for Office (MDO) team, we are responsible for delivering a cloud-based email and message filtering service that protects customers from advanced threats (malware, phish, fraud and spam) in Microsoft’s collaboration workloads (exchange, teams, sharepoint, onedrive etc).

MDO provides investigation, threat hunting and remediation capabilities that allow security teams to efficiently identify, prioritize, investigate, and respond to threats.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 3-4+ years' industry software engineering experience especially in web applications development
• Strong coding skills in C# or equivalent & Experience delivering high quality software on time
• effectiveness both in independent as well as collaborative efforts
• Drive & Passion to create impact by leveraging technologies, platforms and processes as needed from time to time
• Strong communication skills and a passion for solving hard problems
• Good background in networking, data security and cloud-based applications.
• Design highly performing web services with standard web technologies around OATH 2.0, ODATA etc.
• Experience with APIs integrations with cloud application providers
• Knowledge of distributed systems, large-scale Data technologies development, Agile development
• Experience with software development tools such as source control systems (GIT), automated build systems, compilers, software validation systems, and test harnesses
• Development experience with cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Linux stack, Docker, Azure active directory, Azure Kubernetes service
• Knowledge of Big Data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink etc
• Experience in User Interface development using modern web technologies and patterns such as React, MVC, REST, HTML/CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript.

Our team is looking for strong software engineers who can take on some of these challenges directly and in collaboration with some of the industry experts across Microsoft Defender product suite. Having experience in languages, frameworks, and platforms such as C#, Azure AKS, Azure ServiceFabric, Microsoft Substrate, C, C++, HD Insights, Azure Synapse, Scala, high scale distributed computation, M365 services, Graph API, Power Platform and various others is desired. Acquaintance with security intelligence services especially in the space of identity, apps and endpoints is added advantage. The candidate should be able to demonstrate proficiency in what they know, and can extend their learning to new languages, tools, and environments. You will be responsible for

• Designing and delivering features end to end that are "serviceable" including system architecture, code, deployment, and management from conception to delivery.
• Distributed computation, high scale, high availability, geo-redundancy, low maintenance and with provable quality
• Able to handle large scope and complicated feature ownership by working with PM and the engineering teams
