Software Engineer II - Edge Compute Infrastructure

In Mixed Reality, we are building the next generation of devices and infrastructure for training and in-field deployment of in-field scenarios like project IVAS (Integrated Visual Augmentation System.) As a Software Engineer II - Edge Compute Infrastructure on the Mixed Reality Team, you will work on the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS). The United States Army has contracted Microsoft to prototype hardware, software, and cloud solutions for IVAS. The program leverages technology from HoloLens to design a heads-up display that pushes the boundaries of mixed reality devices. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and securing the customized operating systems that power our unique edge compute devices operating in extreme environments.  You will work with a diverse set of internal and external partners balancing application integration and security requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience delivering commercial-quality software products for consumers or enterprises. 
• 1+ years of experience in building or administrating on Windows Server systems. 

Other Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 
• Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information.  To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Working experience as Full Stack developer.
• Experience with Azure Dev Ops build pipelines  
• Experience with one or more of the following: 
  • Packer 
  • Docker
  • Patch Management on disconnected systems.
  • Security Technical Implementation Guide(STIG) process. 

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
