Software Engineer II

Our team charter includes Windows Server improvements, Copilot and AI for Windows Server to provide a natural language interface that helps them quickly identify issues and reduce mean time to resolution, Windows Admin Center to empower server admins to manage their infrastructure in an easy and accessible way with a modernized platform, and Azure Service and integrations to Bring the power of the Azure to the Enterprise.

In Core OS, we are responsible for the Operating Systems that power Azure, Microsoft's Linux OS, the platforms for Windows Client and Xbox, and our Windows Server ecosystem – through all of these, we support every one of our cloud businesses and billions of customers around the world. • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

• 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    
  •  OR equivalent experience.
• Competency with prompt engineering and large language models (LLM).
• Good design, development, and testing skills
• Problem solver with good troubleshooting skills.
• Be comfortable moving up / down the stack and writing code in both managed and native languages

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

• Design and develop the AI-driven features for Windows Server, focusing on automation, natural language processing, predictive analytics, and intelligent decision-making.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to Microsoft's coding standards and best practices.
