We are the COSMIC Topology and Namespace Management team, part of the platform that powers some of the largest-scale services in Microsoft, including Teams backend services and Copilot. Our team focuses on the critical infrastructure that enables onboarding, cluster fleet provisioning, and establishing standards across apps through policies (e.g., observability, deployment, security etc.).
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build COSMIC AURA —an AI-first orchestration platform that will redefine how Microsoft optimizes runtime capacity, workload placement, and operational efficiency for COSMIC. You will be part of a high-performing, cross-functional team building multi-tenant, high-throughput services with a strong focus on reliability and performance.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+years of professional software development experience, building scalable, highly available cloud or distributed systems.
- 4+ years experience in at least one programming language (e.g., C#, Go, Java, Python).
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with C#, PowerShell, or Go.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services and Kubernetes.
- Proven track record in designing and operating large-scale cloud systems.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $114,400 - CAD $203,900 per year.
