Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn power Microsoft’s cloud business. The CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible. CO+I Engineering is a competitive advantage for Microsoft, and an important pillar in its cloud success.

Sovereign Cloud Engineering (SCE) team develops apps and services to enable sovereign cloud datacenter operations that are scalable, effective, compliant, cost-efficient, and intelligent, so it reliably provides computation capacity for Microsoft clouds and services such as Azure, Microsoft 365, and Dynamics 365. We are looking for a passionate and self-driven Senior Software Engineer to work with the team and our partners to enable the next generation of data center operation with cutting edge features and technology, and make sure it matches the ever-growing cloud computation demands from existing and emerging sovereign clouds around the globe. Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  
  • OR equivalent experience.
    
• Working experience building scalable, reliable, distributed systems.
  
• Excellent analytical skills and an ability to abstract concepts and think in terms of OO design.
  
• Strong learning, problem solving and communication skills.
  
• Data-driven mind-set. Ability to mine data and persuade your team using effective analysis.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

• 5+ years of working experience in large scale system architecting, design, development, testing, and release, including but not limited to web applications, microservices in layers, database design, API design, performance tuning, telemetry design and analysis.
  
• 3+ years of working experience in cloud-based services (Azure or AWS).
  
• 3+ years of working experience in modern web framework such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  
• Strong design skills and hands on experience with modern software system design, principles, architectural styles, and usage trade-offs.
  
• Experience with data science or machine learning is a great plus.
  
• Experience of leading big initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations and leveraging deep domain expertise to influence product roadmap.

• Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
• Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
