Senior Software Engineer

The Content Services Verticals team is seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation systems for Microsoft Start. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across teams within Start, as well as with Edge, Windows, Xbox, Bing, and other divisions, to build scalable and high-performance backend services that power user-facing experiences. 

As a Backend Engineer, you will design, implement, and optimize services, APIs, and infrastructure to support the evolving needs of our platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend developers, to ensure seamless integration and exceptional performance. From system architecture and data modeling to API design and deployment automation, you will play a key role in driving our technical roadmap and delivering innovative solutions. 

The ideal candidate has a strong background in backend development, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and a passion for building robust, scalable, and maintainable code.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Experience in developing and optimizing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Proven ability to create and maintain efficient, reliable backend services. 
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining complex backend systems. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
