Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. ​​Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.​ 

​​​​Power BI team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to further improve growth and satisfaction of paginated reports on Power BI service and on-premise Report Server. These are heavily used offerings and we plan to grow them further through increased investments in these areas. Paginated reports are operational in nature, suited for printing and sharing. Power BI Report Server is an on-premises report server with a web portal in which you display and manage reports.

​​Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python or equivalent experience 
OR equivalent experience. 
3+ Years of Experience designing and maintaining cloud service applications, distributed systems and microservices.​

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications 

​​* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. 
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 
OR equivalent experience. 
* 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in any modern software development language. 
* Experience with business intelligence or data applications. 
* Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) or OpenAI 
* Experience developing new features in a large codebase on an established product across multiple versions.​
