Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager.
Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture.
Within the Microsoft fabric platform team, we are the Core platform team. Our team is responsible of the main compute platform on which all Fabric products are running. Our service is highly scalable and highly available, and we are one of the biggest Azure services in the world. We develop features directly for customers but also features for the Fabric products that run on our platform. The Core platform service is a stateful service build on Azure Service Fabric and ContainerD. We use many Azure technologies from Storage, Premium Files, Service Bus, Event Hub, Event Grid, Kusto to SQL Azure, Cosmos DB and Azure Redis.

Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience managing teams of 5-10 people.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- 4+ years people management experience
- Experience with security, authentication, authorization
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
