Previous experience with AI is not required for this role.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, TypeScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years experience building secure, compliance, scalable cloud services and managing live sites. 

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to effectively communicate about technical subjects  

• AI, Machine Learning or Large Language Models experience.   

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

• Architect, design and build robust, scalable, and efficient services and service-delivered features that support millions of users and billions of calls.  

• Work with program management to shape ideas, scope and design features for Copilot and Excel AI including data analytics, visualizations, semantic understanding of data, and more.   

• Work with research and data science teams to build components, pipelines, and platform pieces to support the features including leveraging LLMs (Large Language Models), managing data, training models, and serving, and hosting them.   

• Drive compliance, security, scalability, and reliability for Copilot and AI services including necessary DevOps and OCE (On-Call Engineer).  

• Drive adoption of Analyze Data and Insights Services features in Excel Copilot and other Office horizontal partnerships.
