The Microsoft Surface team in India Development Center (IDC) is seeking an experienced and passionate software development leader to take on the role of Principal Group Software Engineering Manager  and own the experience of our in-market Surface devices world-wide and lead our Post Launch Engineering team out of IDC.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple releases and complete product cycles 
  • Proven track record of shipping high volume personal computing / consumer devices 
  • Proven track record of leading and growing geographically diverse teams, including experience in building and scaling new teams. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines .
  • Experience with embedded system software development, especially at a system architectural level 
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven
  • High tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress in the face of it 
  • Some domestic and international travel will be necessary. 
  • Experience with Intel, AMD or Intel SoCs, Windows Driver Kit (WDK), Driver development, UEFI/Firmware development is a huge bonus 

Other Requirements

 

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software and/or product development
  • Experience managing one or more manager of managers and an organization of more than 40 individuals
