Microsoft Fabric’s Real-Time Intelligence team is leading the transformation of real-time analytics in the world of data. The products of our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Kusto DB, Azure Data Activator, and Azure Maps. ​​The team provides comprehensive solutions and a robust platform that enables users to ingest high granularity signals (real-time & observability) and complex data, converting those into a competitive advantage in real-time for both end users and modern applications.

​​The Real-Time Intelligence team is hiring a Principal Data Scientist to tackle challenges in both open-source and proprietary technologies related to analytics, cloud, AI, and storage systems among others. We work on novel technologies including analytics on container technologies, graph databases, infrastructure and models for Large Language Models (LLMs) and data-science, Machine Learning (ML) for systems, and many other areas.

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

• Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience,
  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience,
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience,
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, R, SQL, C++/C#.
• 5+ years of industry experience leading data science efforts using ML/LLM 

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year working on GenAI (Generative AI) products and LLM technologies.
• 5+ years experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.
• Good knowledge and intuition of commercial-facing products and applications that leverage AI or other algorithmic techniques.  
• Comfortable operating in a complex, cross-functional organization where collaboration with other teams is essential to the success of your team.

 Data Science IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $135,800 - CAD $253,000 per year.
