Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated Digital or Firmware Design Engineer to work with our team in the Secure Computing Group at Microchip. You will be an active contributor to the digital logic design effort responsible for creating state-of-the-art cryptographic based hardware security solutions, working alongside and learning from senior engineers on the team. This position emphasizes embedded programming activity by someone comfortable with microcontroller architecture and software design methodology. See your team’s semiconductor device evolve from an idea to actual silicon as part of a team at Microchip.

You will interact with other teams as we create complete integrated solutions to satisfy the electronic security needs of various industries. Join us, and you’ll help design cost-effective, ultra-secure electronic defense mechanisms for security sensitive and automotive markets.

Due to the security nature of the products developed by this team, this is a full-time work from office position.

Job Responsibilities

• Implement integrated circuits which include embedded microcontrollers, cryptographic algorithms, supporting hardware functions, firmware, or software.
• Design, implement, and document embedded processor firmware modules or validation suites specified by you or others.
• Participate in the verification and bring-up of design modules by implementing test cases, debugging code, and interacting with team members.
• Support design integration activities like Clock Domain Crossing, Synthesis, and DFT as the team resolves timing closure, power, and logical issues.
• Perform additional job-related tasks as directed by the manager.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 2.5 to 5 years of professional experience in an industry-related technical role.
• Working proficiency in C/C++, Python, TCL, or assembly language for embedded processor development.
• Experience with code structure optimization and code revision release management.
• Some firmware development experience with ARM, AVR, or PIC microcontrollers (or a strong desire to grow in this area).
• Exposure to embedded software driver development.
• Experience with source code management tools such as GIT and SVN
• Scripting and automation skills: Unix/Linux shell programming, Perl/Python/Ruby, Makefile, Revision management. 
• Team player willing to learn, encompassing excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 - $134,000.*Application window will remain open until qualified candidates have been identified.
