Software Engineering Manager Responsibilities
  • Drive engineering effort, communicate cross-functionality, and be a subject matter expert.
  • Perform technical software engineering duties and oversee a team of engineers.
  • Utilize data driven decision making and evaluating designs and their complexities

  • Manage the team that builds and maintains software infrastructure, systems and applications, and grow the team based on need.
  • Translate business requirements using complex methods/models to determine appropriate system solutions.
  • Evaluate existing infrastructure capacity, performance
  • plan for future requirements, prepare proposals.
  • Evaluate technology/ tools and identify prospective solutions.
  • Work within a crossfunctional team to provide technical expertise in the design and planning of software system solutions.
  • Provide impact analysis on infrastructure due to Projects/ Change Requests.
  • Build solutions with Availability, Backup, Capacity planning, Performance, Redundancy, Reliability, Scalability, Supportability while prudently managing risks and costs.
  • Participate to develop and manage ongoing operational needs of the backend distributed systems.
  • Act as sounding board and as a consultant and leader to develop infrastructure solutions for operational simplicity.
  • Promote organization process that maximizes organization's productivity.
  • Lead and direct to prepare governing principles to guide decision making pertinent to infrastructure architecture.
  • Develop and execute communication plus education plan for infrastructure architecture.
  • Maximize the performance, uptime, and supportability of Meta's cache infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Requirements Requires five years of experience in the following:
  • 1. Coding in one of the following languages: C++, Java, Javascript, Python, or PHP
  • 2. Relational databases and SQL
  • 3. Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
  • 4. Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services
  • 5. Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager
  • 6. Building products including front end technologies or backend systems
  • 7. UNIX or Linux operating system fundamentals
  • 8. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
  • 9. Large-scale Internet service architectures (load balancing, LAMP, or CDN's)
  • 10. Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure
  • 11. Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams
  • 12. Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions.

$259,587/year to $290,180/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
