Team’s Mission / Work Responsibilities

The AI / LLM Team’s mission is focused on two core pillars, "building" and "enabling" – delivering new AI-driven features and user experiences to maximize the impact of Mercari's business, as well as utilizing AI technologies to enhance productivity across the entire Mercari Group. We do this both through independent initiatives owned by our team, as well as by horizontally collaborating with product and engineering teams across the entire organization

As a Frontend/Full-Stack Engineer on the AI/LLM team at Mercari, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and operating frontend systems that support our cutting-edge AI and ML applications. You will work closely with ML researchers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to build robust, scalable, and efficient services that drive impactful AI-driven solutions for millions of users.

Specific work responsibilities include the following:

• Design and Develop Solutions: Create intuitive, seamless, and engaging AI-centered user experiences. Develop and deploy new features that meet market demands, leveraging the latest frontend technologies and practices.
• Collaborate on Product Roadmaps: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Integrate with External Partners: Collaborate with external partners to understand their system limitations and design solutions that benefit both Mercari and its partners. Ensure smooth integration and operation of AI/LLM solutions with partner systems.
• Create Scalable Solutions: Ensure the platform is scalable and performs optimally, accommodating the growth of our user base and the increasing complexity of features.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Maintain a high standard of code quality and reliability through rigorous testing and best practices in frontend development.

Required Qualifications

• Shared belief in the mission and values of Mercari Group and its various companies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with large-scale product codebases.
• Knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Ability to design and develop with performance and scalability in mind.
• Extensive knowledge of object-oriented software development, networking, memory management, and software testing.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
• Passion for the products and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing generative AI/LLM-related products.
• Knowledge of swc, turborepo and other frontend toolchain.
• Experience with python.
• Development and operation in a microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of and experience with databases (RDBMS, NoSQL), network, Linux server, surveillance systems, logging, SLA, SLO, and system operation.
• Cloud development experience (preferably GCP or AWS).
• Active participation in the open-source community

Working Conditions

Employment Status

Full-time

• Probationary period: First 3 months after joining the company. (During this period your contract conditions will be the same as that of a permanent employee.)

必須条件

• 以下のうち2つ以上の経験を持っていること（3年以上）
• Backend: Go, Javaなど言語を用いたAPIの開発経験
• Frontend: Webブラウザ, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, Reduxなどを用いたフロントエンド開発経験
• Mobile: Swiftを用いたiOSの経験、もしくは Kotlinを用いたAndroid開発経験
• Data Platform: Data Platform: Dataflow/Spark/Kafka/Flinkなどの分散処理フレームワークを用いた開発経験や、AvroおよびProtocol Buffersで表現されるデータスキーマ、ファイルフォーマット（Parquet/ORCなど）に関する知識
