A Day in the Life

If so, you will be a great addition to Medtronic Diabetes Data and Analytics team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to join our team. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design and develop machine learning solutions, and deploy them into production. You will work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven solutions, contribute to the development of innovative data products and develop advanced analytical models and actionable insights that fuel our growth and optimize our operations.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a critical role in our ML operation. The primary responsibility will be to apply advanced machine learning and computer science techniques to develop, validate, modify, and test modeling systems for specific business needs in production environment.

* This position is located onsite in Duluth, GA (Hybrid/3 days per week)

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into machine learning solutions.
• Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.
• Use software design principles to develop production ready code.
• Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to train and evaluate machine learning models.
• Optimize and fine-tune machine learning models for performance and accuracy.
• Deploy machine learning models into production environments and monitor their performance.
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and apply them to improve existing models and algorithms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into existing systems and workflows.
• Document and communicate machine learning solutions, methodologies, and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior Machine Learning Engineers.

Must Have Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience
• Or, advanced degree with 5+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning. Deep knowledge in NLP, Computer Vision, and GenAI.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python. Must be an expert in writing ML code.
• Working experience with full-stack web development (Flask, Panel).
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and Spark.
• Hands-on experience in state-of-the-art ML and DL as applied to large-scale datasets.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks and libraries (PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NLTK, llama-index, langchain).
• Solid understanding of feature engineering and model evaluation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS). 
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools and CI/CD (Github/GitLab).
• Expert in deploying and monitoring ML models and can take care of MLOps.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• 5-10 years of experience in ML, GenAI, and software development.
• Working experience with big data technologies (Spark).
• Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Databricks).
• Experience with cloud ML platforms (Databricks ML).
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools and CI/CD (Databricks Workflow, MLFlow, GitHub Action, GitLab).
• Working knowledge of full-stack web development using FastAPI, Panel, Flask.
• Expert in deploying and monitoring ML models in mass production setting.
• Ability to drive projects.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$152,800.00 - $229,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
