We are now looking for an Engineering Manager to join our global Engineering team!
About the Role
The Engineering Manager is responsible for guiding important development initiatives, while also building and supporting a number of cross-functional, multi-discipline squads.
You will have a significant software development background, ideally in java, but will have responsibility for the smooth running of a team and focus on the coaching and development of its members. This is a people-first role, and while the overall success of a given initiative lies with this role, it will be achieved through the leadership of people and not hands-on execution.
We value in-person collaboration here at Matillion, therefore this role follows our hybrid work structure where employees work 2 days a week in our Madrid office. Our core day is Wednesday, and the second day will be determined together. The rest of the week you are welcome to work from the office, or remotely if you’d prefer.
What you'll be doing
- You will manage a cross-functional team, providing people leadership and supporting them to achieve key outcomes.
- You will empower your team by establishing efficient processes for execution and operations.
- Managing team performance, setting goals, and guiding the team to deliver within timelines and standards is a key part of this role.
- You will support your team’s growth through coaching, development, and real-time feedback.
- You will collaborate with product teams on strategy, roadmap, and decision-making to achieve meaningful outcomes
- Although your direct team will be spread out across our European locations, you will act as the site lead for our Madrid office as the "go-to" Engineering leader there.
What we are looking for
- Experience leading agile teams through the full software development life cycle using methodologies like Kanban and Scrum.
- Skilled in managing team performance by setting clear expectations, aligning with organisational goals, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality work and influence stakeholders on diverse technical topics.
- Demonstrated skill at making thoughtful decisions and setting priorities to guide the team in achieving business objectives and navigating day-to-day challenges.
- A solid technical foundation, ideally full stack experience with React and Java, to help define the team's technical vision and roadmap, while driving continuous improvement in Product, Quality, DevOps, and Security.
- Strong communication skills in English and Spanish
At Matillion, we are committed to providing competitive salaries in line with market standards. Our estimated compensation range for this position is €65,200 - €97,800, but the final salary will be based on your relevant skills, experience and qualifications demonstrated in the hiring process.
