We are looking for an experienced data scientist with a passion for technological innovation who has off-the-charts curiosity, a can-do attitude, and strong sense of ownership. Architecture & Technology (A&T) and the Software Engineering Guild is the perfect opportunity for you. A&T is the Office of the CTO function working on advanced engineering topics, standards, strategy, and governance for Mastercard's platforms and software engineering practices. The Software Engineering Guild brings together over 7,000 software engineers to drive best practices, provide learning opportunities, and develop talent. In both areas, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop insights into our solutions and engineering practices that help identify opportunities, shape our direction, set our priorities, and measure impact.

Key Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist, you will lead the design and development of innovative machine learning models and data analytics solutions to address key business challenges, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver actionable insights for internal departments.
• Leads complex initiatives and projects to derive insights from extracted data to solve critical business questions.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to uncover patterns, trends, and insights hidden within large and complex datasets.
• Develop scalable and efficient data pipelines and workflows from rich data sources, including APIs for processing, transforming, and analyzing data at scale.
• Provide data science expert opinion in support of A&T engagements such as M&A technology due diligence, third-party architecture and tool reviews, etc.
• Identify automated methods to review policy compliance across Mastercard using data from a variety of sources.
• Establish heat maps using data sources such as IT Service Management metrics, source code repositories, application lifecycle management tools, code quality tools, and production usage statistics to identify areas of software engineering focus.
• Develop machine learning models and algorithms to evaluate the lifecycle of approved 3rd party approved technologies.
• Lead and collaborate with other data scientists to create models for Software Engineering Guild projects such as modeling for developer productivity insights or for predicting system performance.
• Explore correlations between patterns, environments, and standard blueprints, evident in code and/or deployment artifacts, with maintainability and operational characteristics.


All About You
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques, with experience applying them to real-world problems.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into practical data science solutions.
• Experience creating and delivering presentations for internal learning, training events, and/or business discussions.
• Demonstrated success interacting with senior leadership, and collaborating with partners across other business units and markets to support cross-functional programs.
• Experience managing day-to-day cross-functional communications and collaboration to meet project deadlines.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating and effectively communicating project outcomes, methodologies, and considerations to technical and non-technical key stakeholders.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, as well as experience with CI/CD, Source Code Management, data manipulation, analysis libraries, and tools such as Alteryx and DOMO.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
