Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer – Wiring Harness with 2–4 years of experience in automotive wiring harness design, electrical packaging, and vehicle-level integration.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks Electrical, 3D wiring harness routing, harness creation, 2D drawing preparation, and vehicle-level packaging studies.
The candidate will be responsible for developing and integrating wiring harnesses and electrical components while ensuring design feasibility, manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance with vehicle-level requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage 3D wiring harness routing and design using SolidWorks Electrical.
- Create and modify wiring harness designs based on vehicle requirements and packaging constraints.
- Perform electrical harness and component packaging studies at the vehicle level.
- Prepare 2D wiring harness drawings and maintain design documentation.
- Understand wiring harness assembly and manufacturing processes.
- Work on vehicle-level requirements, including vehicle BOM, carry-over aggregates, vehicle segments, and aggregate integration.
- Develop packaging guidelines and recommendations for mechanical and electrical integration.
- Ensure proper harness routing, clearances, accessibility, and serviceability.
- Select and integrate harness protection and retention components such as clamps, clips, grommets, protectors, and corrugated tubes.
- Apply DFA, DFS, DFM, and DVA principles during product development.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Validation teams.
Required Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with SolidWorks Electrical.
- Strong knowledge of 3D wiring harness routing and creation.
- Understanding of wiring harness design and assembly processes.
- Experience in vehicle-level electrical and mechanical packaging.
- Knowledge of 2D harness drawing creation.
- Understanding of harness clamps, clips, grommets, protectors, and corrugated tubes.
- Knowledge of DFA, DFS, DFM, and DVA concepts.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and vehicle BOMs.
Good to Have
- Knowledge of electronic components and electrical systems.
- Experience in automotive vehicle-level wiring harness projects.
- Exposure to vehicle architecture and aggregate integration.
- Experience participating in cross-functional design and packaging reviews.
Educational Qualification
BE / B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
