MAR_122 -Engineering Manager – Oil & Gas & Offshore Engineering

Location: Bangalore, India

Department: Staffing

Experience: 10+

Role Summary
Marutee Design & Engineering is establishing a dedicated Offshore Design Centre (ODC) for Oil & Gas and Heavy Engineering. We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert / Engineering Manager to build, lead, and scale an engineering team of approximately 10 members delivering brownfield, greenfield, FPSO/FSO, and offshore platform projects for global clients across Europe and North America. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical authority, team setup, delivery ownership, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Team Setup & Leadership
• Establish the ODC from the ground up: define team structure, recruit and onboard engineers, and set up workflows, tools, and delivery processes.
• Lead, mentor, and directly manage a multidisciplinary team of approximately 10 engineers across design, analysis, and drafting.
• Own capacity planning, skill matrices, competency development, performance management, and utilization targets.
Technical & Delivery Ownership
• Serve as the technical authority (SME) across Oil & Gas onshore/offshore, brownfield/greenfield revamps, FPSO/FSO conversions, offshore fixed/floating platforms, topsides, and heavy fabrication engineering.
• Own end-to-end delivery: proposals, estimation, scheduling, quality gates, design reviews, and client sign-off.
• Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (API, ASME, DNV, ABS, AWS, ISO, and classification society rules).
• Drive engineering quality, standardization, and productivity improvements across the ODC.
Client Engagement & Business Development Support
• Interface with clients in Europe and North America as the technical face of the ODC; support scoping, kickoff, delivery governance, and cross-time-zone stakeholder management.
• Support BD and proposals with technical inputs, capability statements, and pilot-to-ODC engagement models.

Domain Expertise Required
Oil & Gas (upstream/midstream), brownfield modification & revamp, greenfield development, FPSO/FSO topsides and hull, offshore fixed & floating platforms, subsea/piping, structural & fabrication-heavy engineering, and marine/offshore installation and construction support.
Disciplines span Piping & Layout, Structural, Mechanical (static & rotating equipment), Naval/Hull, Stress & FEA, Fabrication/Weld Engineering, and multi-discipline integration.

Software & Tool Stack
Candidates should have working command across relevant tools, with breadth and adaptability valued (specific stack varies by client project):
• 3D Plant/Structural Design: AVEVA E3D / PDMS, SmartPlant / Intergraph SP3D, Tekla Structures.
• CAD/Modeling: SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, NX, AutoCAD.
• Structural/Stress Analysis: SACS, ANSYS, Nastran, STAAD.Pro, SESAM, GeniE.
• Piping Stress: CAESAR II, AutoPIPE.
• Fabrication/Detailing: Tekla, ProSteel, ShipConstructor.
• PLM/PDM & Collaboration: Windchill, Teamcenter, ENOVIA.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Naval Architecture, Petroleum, Marine, or related discipline).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas / offshore / heavy engineering, including EPC or engineering-services delivery.
• Proven experience directly managing a team of at least 10 engineers, including recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and capacity planning.
• Demonstrated experience working with customers in Europe and North America, including client interfacing, delivery governance, and cross-cultural stakeholder management across time zones.
• Strong knowledge of international offshore codes, standards, and classification society requirements (API, ASME, DNV, ABS, AWS, ISO).
• Experience setting up and scaling engineering teams from the ground up; ODC / offshore engineering centre experience is a strong advantage.

Preferred Attributes
Leadership maturity, ownership mindset, strong written and verbal communication for European and North American clients, familiarity with regional business cultures and working norms, the ability to build processes from scratch, and comfort operating in a fast-scaling, BD-driven environment.
