Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer Loyalty Partner Engineering team. This role is part of the team focused on building out our next generation partner integrations. Appropriate candidates have a passion for emerging technologies with a vision for building next generation capabilities and a strong drive for success.
In this role you will function as a technical expert and lead engineer for the Loyalty Partner Engineering team. You will perform research, analysis, design and development on a wide range of next generation data capabilities and products. You will set technical standards and develop reusable frameworks to ensure consistent and efficient creation of capabilities and products.
You will assume technical ownership on team deliverables and lead technical resources to ensure deliverables are of high quality, follow our technical standards, best practices and perform at scale.
In addition, you will research emerging technologies that will provide future capabilities as well as seek solutions for complex technical issues. You will make decisions on complex, non-routine requests to support company strategy based decisioning by Marriott business teams.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required:
- 8+ years’ experience in software development with expert level expertise in multiple programming languages and methodologies
- 5+ years in Object Oriented Design and development concepts
- 5+ years designing and developing high performance, scalable JAVA applications using:
o Java EE, Spring Microservices
- Relational and NoSQL databases
- XML, JavaScript, JSON, APIs
- 2+ years with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Dynatrace or Splunk
- Experience with Play framework, Spring Boot and/or Spring Reactive applications
- Technology leadership experience in a sourced environment
- 4+ years’ technical delivery ownership of large scale enterprise applications
- 3+ years’ experience developing on AWS
- 2+ years’ experience with AWS S3 and Lambda
- Strong technical leader with proven ability to lead technical resources
- Strong communication skills
- AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification
- Experience with event-based technologies.
Preferred:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Experience with Airflow, Python, COBOL, DB2, Harness and/or other technologies
- Experience with Data Governance Tools such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog
- Experience with DB2, Couchbase and/or PostgreSQL databases
- Experience in agile software methodologies
- Experience with Jira/Confluence
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate future technology opportunities
- Experience with Kafka / Avro

- Ensures all projects follow the defined development and business case processes
- Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor teams
- Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development
- Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels
- Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities
- Provides timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients
IT Governance
- Follows all defined IT standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, Architecture, Security, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
- Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk
- Ability to assess when risks need to be escalated to right channels.

The pay range for this position is $60.09 to $85.24 per hour.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
