System Engineer

APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) opened in 2015 and remains the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal. Equipped to handle the largest container ships way into the future. The use of green energy and fully electrified equipment made it the world’s first zero emission terminal for CO2, NOx and particles emissions. With fully fenced-off automated areas, separating men and machines, it is also one of the safest terminals around the world. Around 80% of crane movements are automated, with the remaining manual operations being performed remotely. More than 500 employees are employed within the organization, enabling the fully automated discharging and loading of the largest container vessels in the world.

Key responsibilities:

Currently APMT Maasvlakte II is going through a big technical transformation and expansion. The optimization team is continuously working on new developments to secure and improve the productivity of the terminal while expanding the terminal at same time. For this optimization team we are looking for a System Engineer.

• You will become a TOS, ECS and ATT/FMS application & integration expert.

• You do not shy away to challenge improvement requests and share potential alternative solutions.

• You will be the go-to person to answer questions from operations and research intended and unintended system behaviour.

• Maintain and occasionally document interface (IF) specifications and describe functional requirements for software changes or new capabilities.

• See the bigger picture and contribute to the overall application architecture and advise on how to simplify and scale the terminal system for future growth.

• You can blend technical knowledge and experience with operational processes and create test plans for acceptance testing of new equipment and/or new software releases.

• You will perform IF and integration tests using test tools, simulators/emulators and live equipment and execute emulation runs of specific operational flows or the entire terminal.

• Serve as a bridge between the technical aspects of a project and the business objectives of the terminal.

• Perform log analysis, log cases and discuss findings and requirements with vendors.

• Work closely with internal and external parties on systems within scope.

We are looking for you because you have:

• Minimum of 3 years experience in working at/with container terminal-specific systems such as TOS.

• Communication skills with both technical and less technical stakeholders.

• Experience in working as an application expert is a plus.

• A Bachelor degree in a technical field.

• Skills in programming is a plus.

• Experience with working in the scrum/agile way of working is a plus.

• Fluent in Dutch and English

• Work as a teamplayer.
