APM Terminals is seeking a Project Manager, Decarbonization to join our team in California. This role involves leading the successful implementation of electrification pilot projects at Pier 400. This position is responsible for the deployment of infrastructure and electric equipment while preparing terminal teams for smooth operations of fully electric fleets. This position will oversee the end-to-end deployment process, ensuring alignment with business goals, safety standards, and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of electrification pilots within complex technical environments.
  • Oversee the deployment of electric equipment and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ensure operational readiness of the terminal for the arrival and use of electric fleets.
  • Collaborate with internal terminal teams to ensure readiness.
  • Work closely with senior leadership, including terminal executives and the Global Decarbonization team, to align on product requirements and successful implementation.
  • Ensure all regulatory, safety, and compliance standards are adhered to throughout the deployment process.
  • Set and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) for the electrification pilot.
  • Procurement Compliance
  • Adhere to APM Terminals' procurement policies throughout the project.
  • Maintain high technical standards and introduce innovative techniques to enhance program development.
  • Act as the central point of coordination between deployment teams, suppliers, product teams, and terminal staff to ensure the project meets strategic objectives.
  • Reporting & Communication
  • Provide consistent project status updates following the agreed Project Execution framework.
  • Ensure transparent and effective communication with key stakeholders (Terminal MDs, Global Operations, Asset Engineering, IT, and the Decarbonization Office).
  • Lead deployment teams to execute plans without business disruption, resolving challenges as they arise.
  • Drive change management to secure stakeholder buy-in and ensure project success.
  • Oversee all testing milestones and approve outcomes.
  • Continuously monitor risks and opportunities, leading mitigation, and exploitation efforts.

How we are looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of electrification and energy optimization, preferably within port operations.
  • A technical or engineering qualification with experience in relevant fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in decarbonization and emerging technologies in electrification.
  • Proven ability to deliver successful results in complex project or product deployment environments.
  • Skilled in managing resources and prioritizing tasks effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to handle complex issues and find structured solutions.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide deployment teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to drive change and manage transitions for smooth project delivery.
  • High proficiency in English is essential.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: USD 115,000.00 - USD 145,000.00

Benefits: Full time employees are eligible For Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401k match

The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
