Assistant Electrical Project Manager

We are looking for an engaged and collaborative colleague for our Electrical Project Implementation Team (EPIT). We support various strategic projects related to decarbonization, energy efficiency, communications, and safety for Maersk in all electrical and automation aspects, playing a crucial role in Maersk’s decarbonization and digitalization agenda.
EPIT is part of Fleet Technology—a specialized maritime engineering competence center. The FMT department is responsible for the complete project lifecycle for new building, ship retrofitting and conversions, ship recycling, technical innovation, and a variety of other specialized technical services for the Maersk fleet of container vessels.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for collaborating with multiple internal teams located globally, including HQ in Denmark, Mumbai, Singapore, and other locations. You will be directly responsible for implementing new equipment and retrofit modifications for the existing fleet of vessels, relevant to electrical and automation scopes. You will work closely with major suppliers, OEMs, vessels, shipyards, and internal stakeholders to achieve various goals set out for individual projects.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Initiating, implementing, and managing major retrofit projects in Electrical, Navigation, and Communication (Networking and IoT) efficiently, effectively, and independently.
- Possessing a proficient understanding of the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems for marine vessels, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.
- Ensuring compliance with international marine electrical standards (IEC, IMO, etc.) and safety regulations.
- Driving external suppliers, vendors, classification societies, and stakeholders toward project objectives, ensuring alignment and cooperation for seamless project execution.
- Collaborating with onshore and offshore multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals, ensuring transparency and alignment while facilitating effective communication and sharing of critical updates.
- Maintaining international and company standards across the process and adopting a quality-focused approach toward your deliverables.
- Embracing a “safety-first” mindset, maintaining a strong focus on situational awareness and risk mitigation in all aspects of the project.
- Taking ownership and acting autonomously while fostering cooperation and teamwork to find solutions.
- Staying updated with industry developments and identifying trends that can significantly enhance strategic initiatives such as decarbonization, energy efficiency, operational optimization, safety, and connectivity.
Who Are We Looking For?
We seek a passionate, motivated, and experienced individual with 7+ years of experience in electrical projects within the marine field or offshore background.
You should have experience in new installations and retrofit projects in the marine industry, preferably holding an electrical engineering degree or equivalent qualification. Exposure to design, commissioning, installation, and maintenance of technologies and systems related to marine automation, navigation, and control systems will enhance your execution.
You possess strong communication skills, problem-solving acumen, the ability to manage conflicts, and keen attention to detail. You have developed a robust technical management profile with a goal-oriented mindset through professional experience, coupled with exceptional problem-solving abilities, documentation, and reporting skills. Additionally, you demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
You will evaluate and execute E&A project scopes, analyse technical drawings, collaborate with stakeholders, ensure compliance with project management reporting (PMO) , manage procurement and invoices, and support continuous improvements.
The following skills will further benefit you in this role:
- A project management certification (e.g., Prince2 or PMP) is advantageous but not a prerequisite. You are a confident and effective communicator at all levels of a global organization and proficient in the English language and Microsoft Office.
