Head of Engineering

Job Description

We are looking for a highly-skilled, head of engineering who leads the organization in terms of technology and organizes all the development activities by interfacing between product management and development teams. The head of engineering will add structure, stability, clarity, and confidence to the development team in their day-to-day work. Provide support in order to achieve high-quality results and outcomes. Lead multiple development teams that are working in an Agile culture. Conduct all Agile principles, review progress; identity, and assess any potential obstacles or deficiencies creating barriers towards completion. Monitor quality to ensure that products meet their technical and business objectives. This is a key leadership position that will provide technical oversight of all development deliverables, drive engineering best practices, and coach assigned engineers to grow their impact and effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Experience in Web Services REST and GraphQL

• Experience in DB management solutions such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB

• Experience in programming languages C#, .NET, NodeJS, and Python

• Excellent Knowledge in front-end technologies HTML5, JS, and CSS, as well as the popular JS frameworks such as React and Angular

• Excellent Knowledge in mobile native technologies iOS/Android and cross-platform frameworks is a plus

• Excellent knowledge in cloud services and solutions based on microservice architecture pattern on top cloud providers (Azure, AWS, or Google)

• Excellent understanding of DevOps practices, methodologies, and tools

• Excellent knowledge in professional software engineering best practices for the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

• Excellent knowledge in software compliance certificates with security regulations

• Experience in architecting, developing, deploying, and monitoring SaaS systems at a large-scale

• Experience in developer tools (continuous integration, version control, source code repositories, build systems, package management, deployment tools, containerization, etc.)

• Experience in test-driven development and automated testing strategies

• Experience in day-to-day technical management and working in a collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality

• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and frameworks

Responsibilities

• Leading the entire software engineering teams and managing the overall development lifecycle.

• Defining the product technical vision and strategy for development methodologies

• Drive improvements in our development practice of continuous delivery and ensuring the operational support and monitoring is in place for the live running of services

• Ensuring the development teams are enabled to deliver effectively and efficiently, sharing best practices across engineering teams

• Guide, coach, and mentor software development engineers

• Provide project management and technical leadership for every aspect of the software

• Manage day-to-day technical management and make the right technology decisions for the team

• Oversee software compliance certificates with security regulations

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices in tools, language, and systems to ensure that all development is in line with current trends and industry relevance

• Work closely with product management to translate product requirements into technical solutions and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines

• Instill standards & best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver scalable & high-quality software
