Software Engineer, Driver Experience

We constantly innovate and incorporate cutting edge technologies to make the lives of our community more enriched.  Lyft is seeking an expert software engineer to join the Driver team. This team is responsible for helping us increase the number of drivers on the Lyft platform, ensuring that those drivers are delivering a high quality experience for passengers, while reducing the amount of time required between initial sign-up and actually driving. We are continuously evaluating and iterating in order to deliver phenomenal experiences for our drivers. 

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate and maintain existing or new elements of our systems and infrastructure
• Collaborate with engineers and partners in science & product to drive projects from inception, specification, execution, or to launch
• Build and operate large-scale distributed systems (Beam, Flink, Kafka, etc.)
• Design and own the way real-time data is consumed, stored, and shared with the entirety of Lyft
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge, including Open-Source projects
• Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing appropriate tech and engineering best practices

Experience:

• 3+ years of software engineering industry experience
• Experience with object-oriented programming
• Experience or exposure to distributed systems
• Experience working with databases, relational or NoSQL
• Ability to thrive in a startup environment
• Ability to write thorough, scalable and clear design documentation
• Designs, builds and improves a set of team owned components

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $144,000-$160,000 USD. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
