Description

DevOps Engineer

Location: Remote (United States)

Department: Development

Summary of Job:

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join the Lumistry team and evolve our cloud infrastructure and internal tooling. In this role, you will drive the reliability, scalability, and security of the systems that power pharmacy care across the United States. You will work cross-functionally to build effective and efficient developer experiences, operate a robust and highly available cloud infrastructure, and help to ensure our platform meets the rigorous compliance requirements of the healthcare industry.

What you'll do:

  • Design, build, test, and deploy tools and processes supporting both development and production environments spanning Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS, serving retail pharmacy customers and their patients.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows โ€” reducing manual toil and accelerating delivery for software and quality engineering teams.
  • Continuously improve a reliable, scalable, measurable, and maintainable platform, applying SRE principles to keep services highly available.
  • Maintain observability across infrastructure and business operations through comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and dashboards โ€” giving all Lumistry teams full transparency into system health.
  • Participate in security and compliance operational activities that satisfy SOC 2 and other regional and global compliance requirements.
  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps practices to ensure consistent, auditable, and repeatable deployments.
  • Contribute to on-call rotations and incident response, driving blameless post-mortems and lasting remediation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience operating SaaS infrastructure in-house or through PaaS providers, with hands-on experience in AWS or GCP and exposure to CI/CD pipelines, zero-downtime database migrations, third-party system migrations, and continuous delivery best practices. GitHub actions proficiency preferred.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or automation language (Python, Bash, Go, or equivalent).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or managed equivalents such as GKE or EKS).
  • Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud-native services across Google Cloud and/or AWS including serverless compute, managed databases, data lakes, and configuration management.
  • Strong understanding of observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, Cloud Monitoring).
  • Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar).

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in the pharmacy, healthcare, or health-tech industry.
  • Google Cloud Professional or AWS Solutions Architect certification.
  • Background in platform or developer experience engineering.
