We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, implementation, and evolution of a Kotlin-based microservice architecture for our banking systems. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing backend solutions.

Join the new Bloom Mobile App Onboarding team and play a key role in shaping the future of our banking customer experience!

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of backend services and platforms.

  • Drive architecture decisions in collaboration with architects and engineering teams.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day engineering guidance.

  • Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.

  • Deliver new features and enhancements that meet business, user, performance, and reliability requirements.

  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Ensure high software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Drive improvements in performance, security, scalability, and maintainability across backend services.

  • Identify technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and proactively address architectural and operational challenges.

  • Support the growth and development of engineers through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin; experience with Java is highly desirable.

  • Strong experience designing and building microservice architectures.

  • Strong proficiency with Quarkus; experience with Spring Framework is a plus.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers, such as Kafka.

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control systems (Git).

  • Strong knowledge of performance optimization, secure coding practices, and application security.

  • Experience working in Agile environments and applying DevOps practices.

  • Strong knowledge of core AWS services and K8s.

  • Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across teams.

  • Experience in banking, fintech, or other highly regulated enterprise environments is a plus.

  • Fluent English is required in spoken and written communication due to working on Pan-Baltic level.
